May 18 - June 1: Officer Nominations

There will be an Officer Nomination period from May 18 to June 1, 2008. We will receive nominations for Elders, Deacons and Deaconesses. All nominees must be members over the age of 18. Please ask those you wish to nominate prior to submitting their names. We will provide nomination forms and brief outlines and requirements for these roles of leadership prior to May 18.

“Create A Gift” for Mother’s Day

Children and dads are invited to Brookdale Park this Saturday, May 10th, anytime from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, to create a personalized Mother’s Day gift. This gives mom some time off while kids create a gift for mom (or grandma). Look for the yellow balloons between the playgrounds. This is an opportunity to bring your friends and neighbors to participate. A suggested donation of $8 per child will be accepted to support the short-term missions trip.

Fellowship Time on Mother’s Day

If anyone would like to bring a treat to make our mothers feel special, please bring them this Sunday, May 11.

No Youth Group or 5-6th Grade Club on Mother’s Day

To facilitate each family’s celebration of Mother’s Day, youth group and the 5-6th grade club will not be meeting this Sunday, May 11.

Meals Ministry Request

Women’s Group Kickoff!

The Women’s Group will start with an hors d’oeuvre party at Lillian Bingham’s home on May 17. Come fellowship with the women of Redeemer from 6-7:30PM. This is the first monthly social event. We will also have a monthly time of prayer and Bible study, starting June 12th. Lillian lives at 136 Summit Avenue in Montclair. Please contact Joy Swanson (973) 997-8748 with any questions.

Interfaith Hospitality Network

Next week volunteers are needed to assist families in the Montclair area. This is a great opportunity to show God’s love and mercy to those in need in our community. Silent Auction Fundraiser

The Minnesota Missions Team will be hosting a Silent Auction on Saturday, May 31, 7-8:30PM in the gym of Brookdale Baptist Church. Items include gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses, tickets to sporting events and amusement park, gifts, and much more. This event will be open to the church and the public. The proceeds will support our summer missions project.

Diaconate Volunteer Opportunity for Congregation

Bill and Nancy Johnson, a blind couple in our church, will be having repairs done in their apartment. Four to six volunteers are needed on Sunday, June 22 (after church), and Saturday, June 28 to help move their belongings before and after the renovations. If you are interested in helping, please contact Sal Perednia or Jason LaValley.
