FAQs

I want to come to church and bring the kids. What can I expect?

You can expect a casual and welcoming environment for your entire family. During the worship service, your children may join the fun in Children’s Ministry or they may sit with you in the worship service. It's your choice.

What will my child do at Children’s Ministry?

We have age-appropriate activities for each age level, with separate groups for babies, toddlers, pre-k & kindergarten, younger elementary, and older elementary. Your child will be lovingly cared for, prayed for, and taught the message of God’s word as appropriate for their age.

Does my child need to be registered?

At your first visit, we'll have you complete a registration form, including any specific details we'll need to know about your child. We have a secure checkin/checkout system for your child; you'll get a name sticker for your child with a correlating guardian sticker for you to present upon picking up your child after class.

Where should I bring my child?

Care for nursery age children (birth to 24 mo) begins at 9:45 through the end of our service. Toddlers through fourth grade begin the service with their parents for worship and children will be dismissed to class mid-service. If you need help, come to the Information Desk on the first floor of the church house and ask our Director or Sunday Supervisor to help you to your child's classroom. Who cares for the children?

Volunteers from our congregation care for and teach Redeemer Montclair Kids. We also have hired childcare workers for the nursery and classrooms to help assist our volunteers.

How are the childcare workers screened?

All newly hired Children’s Ministry childcare workers must complete a formal interview process including reference and criminal background checks. Once hired, childcare workers must become certified in both Infant and Child CPR.  Workers are currently hired for the Nursery, Younger Toddler, Older Toddler and Pre-K/K classrooms.  Volunteers will be scheduled each Sunday to serve along with them. Childcare workers are familiar with how our church operates, adhere to our policies and procedures, and demonstrate love and compassion for the children.

How are the volunteers screened?

Volunteers may serve after 6 months of regular attendance at Redeemer Montclair. If a potential volunteer has not attended Redeemer Montclair for at least 6 months, 2 reference checks are required before volunteering. All volunteers over the age of 18 undergo a background check.  A profession of faith is necessary to serve in the teaching classrooms. Teen volunteers must be at least in 7th grade and have an adult working with them.  All volunteers are familiar with how our church operates, adhere to our policies and procedures, and demonstrate love and compassion for the children.

Can the parents stay with their child in the nursery or classroom?

Of course! We want all parents and children to be as comfortable as possible.
